"Not 100 people in the United States hate the Roman Catholic Church, but millions hate what they mistakenly think the Roman Catholic Church is.” - - Bishop Fulton J. Sheen

Ahhh, the haters....

As much as I can be hurt by the haters of the Catholic faith by their acidic words, thankfully that hurt quickly turns to sadness knowing the fact that the person launching the bigoted remarks "knows not what they do."  They are lost...I feel it is a Catholic's calling to be like St.  Paul if we can and look for opportunities to to constantly be a light for those who are lost. "The Integrated Catholic" had this piece today on the topic, enjoy!

Thanks for teaching me to not get angry but to feel sorry and pray for the fallen away who so inaccurately explain OUR faith!

It's very hard because mocking or lying about ones faith is like getting slapped in the face. It is so personal & close to each individuals heart, it's like mocking our Mother or something. So anger & hurt are natural but do you find that it seems to be SO much more widely accepted to openly mock a Catholic than any other faith? If you openly mock or riducule any other faith, lawsuits, media coverage & utter distain is usually the reaction...not so with Catholics. It makes it all the harder BUT...we are called to turn the other cheek & always be the example, as difficult as it is. God bless!

I can only explain it as the feeling one would get if someone was talking badly about my child. So yes, it is VERY hard to turn the other cheek. Because it is so hurtful. But then, when I realize the FULLNESS and GRACES we have as Catholics, how can we not feel sorry for them. They are dishonoring God's Church, God's Mother. So, I pray for their souls and their conversion.
